The Office of National Statistics has just released the figures on the most popular babies names in England and Wales for 2017.
What are the most popular baby names for 2017?
The most popular name for boys was Oliver with 6,259 registered, with Harry and George closely behind. Oliver has been in the top spot for 4 years running now, with George remaining in the third position, probably due to the birth of Prince George in 2013.
The most popular name for girls was Olivia with 5,204 registered, with Amelia and Isla in second and third position. Amelia has been the most popular now since 2011, and interestingly 6 of the top 10 girls names all end in an 'a'.

Our top picks for baby names in the following couple of years are -
BOYS - Oliver seems to be very much in favour this past couple of years and with a strong history this name doesn't seem to be going anywhere, but we predict big things from Noah, Leo and Oscar in the next few years.
GIRLS - Olivia isn't quite as stable in first place for the girls, we see Isla and Ava making waves in 2019.
